Furniture Construction

Woods Used North American Red Oak or Cherry is used for oak and cherry. Generally, tops, sides, face, face-frame and shelves are of solid oak or cherry wood, though for certain pieces oak and cherry veneers may be used. In all cases, solid oak or cherry is used for tops, frames and drawer fronts. Drawers are typically built with solid poplar sides and back and are of dovetail construction. The drawer bottoms and the backs of most pieces are of veneer/ply for weight considerations. There is no particle board, no pressboard, and no masonite type materials used on any of our furniture.

Natural Variations in Solid Wood The beauty of solid oak and cherry furniture is in part due to the natural variations in wood grain and coloring. Variations in grain and color are to be expected as each solid wood piece will have it's unique characteristics. These variations are particularly evident when you choose a natural (clear) stain. If you prefer a more uniform look to your furniture, a stain other than natural is recommended.

Finish After staining, our furniture is 'top-coated' with state-of-the-art catalyzed clear finish with a satin sheen. This appears as a hand-rubbed satin finish, yet offers excellent protection and resistance from spills as varied as water, vinegar, coffee, and even paint thinner & turpentine! It allows you to enjoy and use your furniture with peace-of-mind. After a meal at your table, you can simply wipe the table with a damp, soapy dish cloth.

Craftsmanship Each and every piece of furniture we offer is built by our Amish craftsmen. Our pieces are built in small Amish shops using age-old attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship, coupled with modern tools and advances in construction techniques. For instance, our chair legs and stretchers are all joined using both glue & steel screws for added strength.

Warranty Our furniture comes with a lifetime guarantee (outdoor furniture excluded). Should you experience any defects in material or workmanship, return it to us and we will repair or replace, at our option, the piece and return it to you. Warranty does not cover abuse or misuse of the item.
